This phase will continue until six months before the official introduction of the euro. Based on recent projections, Bulgaria aims to adopt the euro around January 2026, meaning Phase 1 would last until approximately June 2025.

Communication Activities During Phase 1, the focus is on communication and public awareness. Authorities launch extensive campaigns to inform citizens and businesses about the upcoming currency change, its timeline, and what to expect.

Importantly, this phase does not impact SAP systems or other enterprise software. No technical adjustments are required during ERM II, as the exchange rate remains stable and the official transition is still in the future.

The first tangible effects on systems, such as SAP, will occur closer to the actual euro adoption date.
